• The Orientation program is designed to help students make the transition from American campus life to the urban French university environment.
• CUPA chooses to conduct its Orientation program in Paris, rather than in the provinces as do many other study-abroad programs, to enable students to immediately explore the city, adjust to its rapid pace, become acquainted with their French host families and tend to practical matters.
• Preliminary language testing is carried out at the start of the Orientation period.
Along with methodology and language-review courses, the Orientation period includes lectures on various aspects of French life and workshops on cultural differences and French academics, as well as tours, museum visits and a weekend trip.
• A wealth of practical information is provided to students during Orientation concerning the Paris transportation system, telephones and cellular phones, Internet access, money matters, student discounts and cultural life in Paris…
