• The Paris university system and its teaching methods are quite different from those of virtually all American colleges. CUPA helps students to adjust to those differences and to make use of resources enabling them to construct a highly rewarding learning and cultural experience. The program also assures that the courses students select will meet the credit requirements of the most demanding American universities.
• CUPA offers an exceptionally wide range of academic choices to its students through affiliations with numerous academic institutions in Paris. The CUPA program also works to develop the framework necessary for students to engage in independent study projects, if approved by their home university.
• Students may undertake studies in the fine and performing arts as well, either on an elective basis or for their major. For advanced studies in music or theater, special programs can be implemented; students should contact the program well in advance to discuss the numerous opportunities and arrange for pre-enrollment in music/theater programs. Art majors may take a full studio program if credits are applied toward the major at the home university.

Academic Institutions
• CUPA has formal exchange agreements with the following universities: Paris 3-Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris 4-Sorbonne, Paris 8-Saint Denis, Paris Ouest Nanterre - La Défense (former Paris X) and Paris-Dauphine, as well as the Institut Catholique de Paris.
• Advanced students may also take courses at the following institutions if certain pre-requisites are met and upon early request: Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO), École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC - science courses), École du Louvre and École Normale Supérieure (ENS).
• Parisian Universities are slowly improving their websites. Though only a few of them publish course bulletins, you can consult their webpages in order to familiarize yourself with these institutions.
